Top 10 Songs of the Week

Top 10 Songs of the Week

Aaja Lehraate Singers: Shaan, Bhavya Pandit
Best time to listen: On way to work/school
Film: What`s Your Raashee?
PB Music Rating: 8.5 out of 10
Public Rating (by 110 listeners): 7.8
Music: Sohail Sen Lyrics: Javed Akhtar Audio On: Sony Music
‘Aaja Lehrate’ is the only song with an electrifying tempo set to be a craze on the dance floors if remixed by the DJs. Shaan injects enthusiasm and carries the whole song on his shoulders.

Sohail Sen defies all odds and produces a fresh soundtrack, in synch with the theme of the movie. Comparisons do not need to be made, as each music director has a different background and approaches composing in another angle. Nevertheless, the young music director composes fresh and youthful songs.

Jaaneman Singers: Himesh Reshammiya, Shreya Ghoshal
Best time to listen: At night
Film: Radio PB Music Rating: 8.0 out of 10
Public Rating (by 2336 listeners): 9.78
Music: Himesh Reshammiya Lyrics: Subrat Sinha Audio On: T-Series
The romantic duo of Shreya Ghoshal and Himesh Reshammiya, which started with the title song of Aashiq Banaya Aapne and `Tere Mera Milna` in Aap Kaa Surroor is back with a series of lovely ballads. After the beautiful ‘Koi Na Koi Chahe’ already being widely appreciated amidst all the cacophony of today, ‘Jaaneman’ is another fine romantic ballad. The promo is already on air.

There is no stopping for Himesh Reshammiya. From the man with the cap to a new stylish hair style, the music director-singer-actor has seen a lot of ups and downs since he rocked the world with Aashiq Banaya Aapne. Those who wrote him off after the failure of Karzzzz are watching him carefully again. Back with an interesting concept in Radio, the soundtrack sees the music director at his best.

Yeh Jism Singers: Anchal Datta Bhatia, Raaj
Best time to listen: Late night
Film: Acid Factory PB Music Rating: 7.0 out of 10
Public Rating (by 13 listeners): 6.54
Music: Shamir Tandon, Bappa Lahiri, Gourav Dasgupta, Manasi Scott, Ranjit Barot Lyrics: Virag Mishra, Manasi Scott, Amitabh Bhattacharya Audio On: Junglee Music
‘Yeh Jism’ has caught on in a really big way because of the picturization and the music too. Shamir Tandon has gone the extra mile in composing this mysterious tune, with pumping beats. Lead singers Anchal Datta Bhatia and Raaj, are commendable in their performances. The remix is even better!

Dont Say Alvida Singers: Sonu Nigam,Shreya Ghoshal
Best time to listen: At night
Film: Main Aur Mrs. Khanna
This sweet melody which was heard in the compositions of Anu Malik and Jatin-Lalit in the 90’s, is brought back again by Sajid-Wajid. With the guitar, tabla and simple instruments in the background, the song is already a hit!

Iktara Singers: Kavita Seth, Amitabh Bhattacharya
Best time to listen: Morning
Film: Wake Up Sid PB Music Rating: 7.0 out of 10
Public Rating (by 63 listeners): 7.29
Music: Shankar Ehsaan Loy, Amit Trivedi (Guest) Lyrics: Javed Akhtar, Amitabh Bhattacharya (Guest) Audio On: Sony BMG
The songs of the trio; Shankar-Eshaan-Loy are very trendy and form the base of the storyline. However, it is Amit Trivedi who has stolen the spotlight and continues to rock!

Amit Trivedi is the current generation of talented music composers and he re-iterates the fact again with his soulful composition titled ‘Iktara’ in this Shankar-Eshaan-Loy soundtrack. Stuck at number 4 in the CD, the composer showcases that a number in the CD sleeve does not matter as long as the song is good! With the talented Kavita Seth in her usual avatar and Amitabh Bhattacharya providing the exceptional male vocals, ‘Iktara’ is a pleasant four minute journey; with plenty of good vibes! The semi-classical genre mixed with soft-rock is another winning formula. Listen to the long synthesizer music nearing the end of the song. Simply fantastic!

Kyon Singers: Clinton Cerejo
Best time to listen: At night
Film: All The Best PB Music Rating: 7.5 out of 10
Public Rating (by 27 listeners): 5.2
Music: Pritam Lyrics: Kumaar Audio On: T-Series
Clinton Cerejo is slowly continuing his singing journey in Bollywood. Composed by Pritam, `Kyon` is a romantic song, wonderfully rendered, with a soft-rock sound in the background. It is one of the finest songs coming from the Pritam`s stable this year!

Dil Ibadat Singers: K.K
Best time to listen: Anytime
Film: Tum Mile PB Music Rating: 8.5 out of 10
Public Rating (by 94 listeners): 8.63
Music: Pritam Lyrics: Sayeed Quadri, Kumaar
Audio On: Sony
Pritam’s latest big release ‘Tum Mile’ has already received positive word of the mouth and with reliable singers like K.K, Mohit Chauhan, Javed Ali and Neeraj Shridhar, featuring in the soundtrack, well expect the best!

`Dil Ibadat` extracts the finest in both K.K and Pritam – a touching song sure to go a long way.
Shola Shola Singers: Zubeen Garg
Best time to listen: Anytime
Film: London Dreams PB Music Rating: 8.0 out of 10
Public Rating (by 33 listeners): 7.36
Music: Shankar Ehsaan Loy Lyrics: Prasoon Joshi
Audio On: T-Series
Another biggie from the factory of Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy is London Dreams. This is a massive project! The trio is in form in the venture and with so many experimentation and an array of singers, the soundtrack has something new to offer.

Zubeen Garg, which is not being taken seriously by music directors and producers, impress in this particular track. One wonders why the trio took so long to find a suitable song for him! Enjoy his return in playback singing!

Bebo Singers: Neeraj Shridhar, Anushka Manchanda Best time to listen: On the way to work/school
Film: Do Knot Disturb PB Music Rating: 6.0 out of 10
Public Rating (by 24 listeners): 5.33
Music: Nadeem-Shravan Lyrics: Sameer Audio On: Big Music
Nadeem-Shravan has made claims that they will be Number One again! The help of arrangers have significantly contributed to this new sound. `Don`t Ever Leave Me` is the only vintage Nadeem-Shravan track.

‘Bebo’ is Nadeem-Shravan’s reply to Anu Malik’s naughty number in Kambakkht Ishq. If Anu Malik, after 30 years in the industry, can still make everyone hum ‘Bebo’, then Nadeem-Shravan is not going to sit quietly and watch. Vashu Bhagnani has roped in Sachin-Jigar to arrange the track with some upbeat sounds. Who wins the ‘Bebo’ competition? That’s up to the audience! Both songs are mixed by the talented Eric Pillai (Future Sound of Bombay)

Neeraj Shridhar and Anushka Manchanda simply rock! Bebo is also an interesting song all the way with an edgy sound. Of course, each song has been composed for a specific situation. Who’s next with the ‘Bebo’ title? It would be interesting to see what A.R Rahman and Himesh Reshammiya can do with ‘Bebo’, if the opportunity arises?

Chiggy Wiggy Singers: Sonu Nigam, Kylie Minogue
Best time to listen: Anytime
Film: Blue PB Music Rating: 8.0 out of 10
Public Rating (by 615 listeners): 5.86
Music: A.R. Rahman Lyrics: Abbas Tyrewala, Mayur Puri, Rajat Arora, Sukhwinder Singh, Raqueeb Alam Audio On: T-Series
A.R Rahman’s Blue is facing competition from the latest releases. The music follows the script and is very much similar to Daud`s music of 1997. The composer has kept his true style throughout the soundtrack. `Chiggy Wiggy` is a fun track with equal time for both singers to shine!
